A real list, in full

809 companies searched. Every result kept, including the ones that came back with nothing, because what a list leaves out is the part nobody shows you.

Measured across 4 trades · accountancy, joinery, plastics and motor retail · September 2026

141
rows with a contact address the company publishes itself, 107 of them on the same domain as the website
25
rows where the address was held back, 15 of them carrying a phone number instead
643
no usable contact found, each with what stopped it

That is 166 rows you can act on out of 809. It is not a flattering number and it is the real one. A supplier promising you 2,000 contacts from 2,000 companies is either selling you a much smaller list, or the addresses are guessed.

What came back: 107 of these, 14 shown

Role addresses, published by each company on its own site for enquiries. The domain is shown because the domain matching the website is the whole point. The part before the @ is masked: this page is public and these businesses did not ask to be on it.

What was held back, and why

Where the only address a company publishes belongs to a named person, that address does not go in the file. You get the company and its phone number instead, and a row saying what happened. A named individual's address is personal data and it arrives with duties attached that a role address does not carry.

What was refused, in its own words

A guesser working from the company name will find a website and hand it over. These are the ones our name check threw out, with the reason it gave:

CompanyWhat the check said
ASH & MAPLE LIMITEDash.com refused: "maple" is not in the domain
LONDON & ESSEX CONTRACTORS LTDlondon.com refused: "essex" is not in the domain
BESPOKE GARDEN ROOMS & DECKING LTDbespokegardenrooms.co.uk refused: "decking" is not in the domain
SMITH & CLELLAND CONSTRUCTION & JOINERY LTDsmith.co.uk refused: "clelland" is not in the domain
Why that second row matters

Strip the name of LONDON & ESSEX CONTRACTORS LTD and guess a domain and you get london.com. It resolves. It returns a real website. It is not their website. Without the check that row goes into your list looking exactly like a correct one, and you find out when you email a stranger.

One thing this page does not show

A handful of companies publish a contact address on a different domain from their website: a firm on a .com site with a .co.uk address. Those are real and they are left out of the table above, because the table is demonstrating the domain check. The check trades a few correct rows for none of the wrong ones, which is the right way round, and it is a trade rather than a free win.

Want one for your trade?

Tell us a trade and an area and we will run 2,000 companies in it and send you the file: the rows that came back, the ones held back, and the reason for every one we threw out. Free, nothing to install, no mailing list.

Email the trade and the area: 10 places, until 31 October. Or build it yourself: the whole method is written down at winnowed.co.uk/guide, free and with nothing to sign up to.
